Andrographis Paniculata (of the family Acanthaceae) is a herb with traditional usage for fighting off colds and infection (usually in Chinese medicine although antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, choleretic, hypoglycemic, hypocholesterolemic, and adaptogen-like effects have been reported as well as being a gastric (stomach) and hepatic (liver) tonic.
The usage of Andrographis Paniculata as a liver tonic is seen more in Ayurveda than it is in Traditional Chinese medicine and is used as an anti-neoplastic agent in Ayuredic medicine.
Has usage in traditional medicine for reducing the severity and length of cold/flu symptoms in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
1. Andrographis Paniculata Extract has antimicrobial activity. It has good antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus haemolyticus, Pneumococcus, dysentery bacillus, Proteus and so on. It also has certain inhibitory effect on viruses and spirochetes.
2. Andrographis Paniculata Extract has the functions of dispelling heat, detoxification, anti-inflammation and analgesia, special efficacy for bacterial and viral upper respiratory tract infections and dysentery, known as natural antibiotics.
3. Andrographis Paniculata Extractcan help reduce symptom severity in people with common cold.
